My Cricut Craft Room - Theme Day Thursday

Happy Thursday Crafty Friends,
We are almost to the weekend...Wahoo!
Today is Theme Day Thursday at My Cricut Craft Room...the Design Team members could either create something with an Egg/Grass Theme or use the cartridge of the day which is Create A Critter.
I just love this cartridge, so of course this was such a fun day to sign up for.

I wanted to use the Hap-Bee birthday sentiment from Pink By Design's Take the Cake stamp set and knew this little Bee from Create A Critter would be perfect.

First I created my own double sided paper using my Cricut Imagine and the Hey Diddle Diddle cartridge.  I just love the patterns on this cartridge.  I didn't want to print a whole sheet of paper so to make the paper I cut a rectangle out that would be big enough to make my 4.5 x 4.5 card.
I selected the 5:7 rectangle in the stock images and sized it at 8.0 . I filled this rectangle with the yellow pattern and print and cut.  After this cut I flipped the cut piece on my mat keeping the 12 x12 piece on the mat so I know exactly where to put the flipped piece down.  I then changed the pattern on the same rectangle to the floral pattern.  I then reloaded my mat and changed the setting to Print Only and it printed in the same exact place as the last cut.  This is the best way I have found to create double sided paper and it saves ink when you don't want to print both sides of a full sheet.

Using my Gypsy I found a square cut on Gypsy Font and sized this at 9 x 4.5 to create my 4.5 x 4.5 base.  I then I placed the Bee Hive in the middle of the card so it would cut a Bee Hive window.
You can find the Hive using the Accessory Feature, Button 45, Cut at 2.5.

The Bee was created with Button 45, Feature Buttons Layer 1 & Layer 2. Each layer was cut at 2.25.
It's hard to tell in the picture, but I used glitter paper for the wings and Glossy Accents on all of the black parts of the Bee.

To finish my card I added some ribbon and doodled around the front of my card and around the hive on the inside of my card.

Hope you enjoyed my Create A Critter Creation (say that 10 times fast...LOL)

  11. Very cute card and idea!! It's fun to see how you used those Hey Diddle Diddle papers. Just had a look at my handbook again ... until you see what someone does with a cartridge, you don't realize what nice things you can create.
