Jinger Adam's Design Team Call

Good Morning Crafty Friends,
I have decided to apply for Jinger Adam's Design Team.  I was so excited when I saw this Design Team Call.  I have always loved watching Jinger on HSN promoting Provocraft Products.  I actually bought my Cricut Imagine during the first Imagine launch.  Jinger is so charasmatic and I have always thought it would be great to work with such a fun and uplifting person.

For this Design Team Call I decided to step out of my comfort zone of Card Making and Scrapbooking (which I love) and decided to create a Home Decor project.
While at Target I came across this frame and vase that were perfect for my desk at work.
I wanted to jazz up the vase a bit to match the beautiful color on the frame which is my color inspiration.
My Blank "Canvas"
My Color Inspiration

To do this I decided to pull out the sheet of Printable Vinyl that came with my Cricut Imagine.
There is also this great RGB feature that comes with the Imagine, so I thought how perfect is this...with the RGB feature I can match the color of the frame to print and cut images for my vase.

Now to try to come up with the right RGB code to match my frame was my first challenge.
The colors on the Imagine screen seem to look a little different then what actually prints so I wanted to make some samples.  To do this on the Imagine I picked a square in the stock images that come with the Imagine and measured it at 1".  While on the square I then selected the Pencil on the top right to Edit.  This takes you into a color palette that comes on the Imagine and to the far right is a rainbow with an arrow in the middle. This is what you select to get to the RGB feature.  I did this three different times to try out a few colors that I thought looked close to the color on the frame. Once I was done playing around with the RGB codes I cut these three squares out to see if I had a match.  Wouldn't you know it my third attempt was a success.  Wahoo...now I'm in business! :)

I picked the images for my vase based on the idea of including an inspirational quote on the printable vinyl. So I decided to find a cut that looked like a frame.  Since I knew I would be making flowers for my vase I pulled out Close To My Heart - Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.  This cartridge is a must have and had everything I wanted to use for this project.

  • The frame cut can be found on Button 17 of the Overlay as the base, cut at 2.75. This image was flood filled with a pattern from Nursery Tails, Page 39. This is also the image that my quote would be on so I chose a soft & subtle pattern.
  • To grab the top layer of the frame cut I selected the Feature Button - Basic/Icon Layer. Select Button 17 and cut at 2.75 again. This image was filled with my beautiful Teal color created using the RGB feature.
  • The Flourish can be found selecting the Feature Button - Decorative Font. Button 38, cut at 1.0. This was also filled with the Teal color.
  • I cut a circle border from Elegant Edges that I thought I wanted to put down the side of the vase.  I didn't end up liking the border, but I used the negative cuts from the border for my cute little dots around the top of the vase.
  • To print my quote I took a piece of regular printer paper and ran it through the printer for a test run.  Once I liked the placing of my wording I used repositionable adhesive to attach the vinyl (with the backing still attached) to the paper and ran it through the printer again.  This works perfect every time.  Did you notice my font matches the Teal as well?  There is also an RGB feature in Word, so I just filled in the RGB numbers from my Imagine and my Font matches perfectly.  Love it! :)
  • To finish jazzing up my vase of course I needed to use some Bling. I had these light pink rhinestones that I think add that extra special touch.
My quote says: "Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans." - John Lennon
I am a planner and this quote reminds me to enjoy each day to the fullest.
Last step for this project was to make Flowers to go in my vase.
There are 6 different flowers to choose from on CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge.
My favorite was the Daisy, which can be found using the Font Feature, Button 38.
I cut two different sizes...5.0 (yellow) and 6.0 (multi color).  Since the paper I used only had a pattern on onc side I inked the bottoms of the flowers to give a little color.  I also inked the edges on the patterned side. (I decided to ink the edges on the patterned side once they were put together which made the inking task a little more difficult, but It gave them the added touch I was looking for.)

Aren't these gorgeous?
They were so fun to make!
For the stems I bought Cake Pop sticks and wrapped them in Green Ribbon.
For the "pollen" on my flowers I used Divine Twine - Cotton Candy, Green Apple, and Lemon.  To attach the Twine I tied a knot three times and glued the knot on the tip of the stick. Then I wrapped the twine in a circle until I was happy with the size of the "pollen".

I had so much fun making these flowers for the first time and playing with the printable vinyl.
I hope you enjoyed and were inspired by my project today.
I would be so excited and feel so blessed to be a part of this Team that get's to promote
 Jinger Adams product.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by. :)
